MU3 certification for an EHR vendor based out of New Jersey

Client Challenge
The client had the EHR solution built using legacy tech stack where the entire data is stored in file system. The challenge was to use this data in the file system for building Automated Measure Calculations and Quality Reporting. They also wanted the application to be enhanced with the capabilities required for 2015 Edition CEHRT and integrate it with third party solutions. To enhance the system, client wanted DIRECT messaging to be implemented within their system to minimize third party dependency and recurring cost.
Solutions
After analyzing the EHR solution, business experts from Nalashaa created precise user story that could be consumed by the development team. To accelerate the development of complex requirements such as Clinical Quality Measures, the data was migrated to a relational database where it is organized to facilitate efficient reporting and analysis. The solution is configurable making upgrade of existing measures or development of new measure effortless. WinForms were used and launched from within the original application at respective triggers. A loosely coupled design ensured that the capabilities of the solution were extended without impacting the existing functionalities and workflows. An EHR agnostic cloud based Patient Portal was built from scratch using FHIR API to communicate with EHR without storing any information. The DIRECT server was configured at the providers’ location, which can be accessed using cloud hosted service, enabling access from anywhere.
