Introduction
A prominent Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management Software developer, with a network of over 7000+ practices nationwide, sought Nalashaa’s expertise to seamlessly transition their EHR's Document Management feature from a desktop application to a multi-tenant Cloud-based platform.
The client's Electronic Health Record (EHR) model operated on a client-server basis. As part of their transition to the cloud, they sought to migrate critical EHR modules, one of which was Document Management functionality.
This module facilitated physicians in associating documents or images with patient records.
However, the existing feature had limitations. Physicians could only scan existing images, import documents in specific formats (e.g., avi, doc, pdf, rtf), upload forms using predefined templates, and add physician notes.
The client’s requirement was to optimize and refine this functionality during the transition to the cloud, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for healthcare professionals to manage patient-related documents and images within the EHR system.

Prescribed Solution
In a month’s time, the Document Management functionality was replicated on cloud along with additional features such as:

Annotation and Signature Inclusion
We introduced the capability to annotate and add signatures when sharing documents with patients, empowering healthcare providers to personalize the information they share.

Physician Document Viewing
Physicians can access and view documents that have been uploaded on the patient portal, ensuring that healthcare professionals have immediate access to critical patient information.

Custom Report Creation
Users can create custom reports and save them as templates for future use.

Document Consolidation
Users can consolidate multiple documents into a single comprehensive report, simplifying data management and report generation
Highlights
The custom code written within the EHR to read DICOM images was coupled with a secure third-party application to successfully integrate with the cloud EHR.
Benefits: Healthy Outcomes
Nalashaa embarked on a journey to integrate client’s D365 platform with DocuSign, leveraging the robust capabilities of both systems by developing a comprehensive solution:
Prior to document annotation, physicians had to follow a cumbersome process to make changes to a patient report. This involved downloading the report, printing a physical copy, editing the hard copy, scanning it, and then adding the revised version back into the EHR. However, with the introduction of document annotation, this convoluted procedure has been streamlined, making it entirely paperless and significantly more efficient for healthcare professionals.

This module empowers physicians to seek specialist insights on reports prior to patient sharing, enhancing diagnostic precision and patient care.

The ability to combine multiple reports into a single document allowed for a quick view saving valuable time for the providers.
